There has been a movement in the last few years to decorate with a neutral Fall instead of just Halloween or Thanksgiving. This allows the decorations to stay up all season, or at least until you get the Christmas bug and want to set up your tree and hang your stockings! Here are some simple Fall decorating ideas to make your home cozy and welcoming this Fall.
1) Painted Mini Pumpkins
Painting pumpkins doesn’t always have to be about adding silly faces. Try painting easy herringbone patterns or simple swirls and geometric shapes on your mini pumpkins to add a modern touch to your Fall décor. Start with a white or cream base coat, and then once dry, use a silver or gold paint pen to add your custom designs.

2) Flannel Pillow
Throw pillows are an excellent way to add a touch of Fall to your décor without having to get too arts-n-craftsy. Place a few flannel pillows on the couch and BAM you have an instant Fall feel.
3) Painted Mason Jars
Mason Jars can be picked up at the Dollar Tree and come in several sizes. Vary your selection of sizes and grab a few fall colors in your favorite acrylic paints. Think bronze, tans, yellows, deep greens for your color pallet. After your jars are dry, add fresh autumn wildflowers to complete your look.
4) Basket of Apples
Find a medium sized basket and fill with red apples as a quick and easy Fall centerpiece for your table. If you have access to burlap ribbon, tie a bow around the basket for an added accent. I'm going to link a few of my absolutely favorite fall wicker baskets!
5) Painted Wood Sign
The Dollar Tree is going to be the perfect place to find large sticker letters for a low cost. If you don’t have one near you, most retailers carry poster board stickers. Use scrap wood or pick up some 4” x 2” wood trim blocks at your local hardware store. Use your poster board stickers, one letter per block, to spell out your message. Ideas would be FALL, BLESSED, HOME, LOVE. Once your stickers are on paint the entire block. Once dry, carefully peel off the stickers, and you have a beautifully hand painted sign.
Not into DIY? That's ok! We are busy, right? There are beautiful premade Fall signs that I can link you to now.
6) Autumn Leaves in a Vase
Choose your favorite large clear or Fall-themed vase and fill with tall branches of autumn leaves for a simple statement piece perfect for your living area or dining table. If you don't have access to real Fall leaves and branches, there is a beautiful artificial leaf selection online.
